The Ascendant and the Rising Sign - First House
The term Ascendant is the name of the first of the twelve Houses of the horoscope.
Located east of the place of birth and the beginning or acne of the House is the eastern horizon. The Rising Sign is that sign of the zodiac, which at the time of birth is on the acne of the Ascendant. Usually, this is the most important sign of the horoscope and provide a general description of the personal appearance and character, although these data are subject to modification depending on the positions of the planets, especially Ruling Planet and every other planet or planets may rising or are near to the Ascendant.
As Aries is described as a strong personal sign, so the first house refers to matters on which the map was designed. So on a personal map will refer to the individual. The type and in a large extent the physical features will depend on the planets of the first house and the sign that is on the acne of the Ascendant.
